A completely different culinary culture to Europe has developed over the centuries in Japan, both in terms of ingredients and typical dishes, but also the methods of preparation used. Knives used in the Far East are very different to the cutting implements we use in Europe. Traditional Japanese knives are perfect for cutting fish and vegetables – the key ingredients in Japanese cuisine. However, as meat began to appear more and more on Japanese menus, knife manufacturers developed a new model of knife designed to use with meat. The result was the Santoku knife, which combines the properties of traditional Japanese knives with those of European slicing knives. The Santoku knife from the ZWILLING® Pro series represents a veritable all-rounder in the kitchen, perfectly cutting fish, vegetables and meat. It can be used to prepare almost all dishes. This knife represents a truly all-purpose implement particularly if you would like to try out Japanese cuisine for yourself. With a blade measuring 14 cm in length, it is perfect for cutting small and medium-sized ingredients. It has outstanding cutting properties, demonstrated by the outstanding sharpness of the knife, thanks to the use of a special formula steel. Ice-hardening gives the FRIODUR® blade its excellent cutting edge retention. Conjure up creative Far Eastern dishes with the ZWILLING Santoku knife.
